On a gameplay, story and design standpoint this the best traditional RPG to come to consoles so far. This could have been the hands down top tier game for the CRPG genre much like Witcher 3 was for the action RPG. It has the feel of the old pen and paper D&D type experience. However it has the huge flaw of being INSANELY unstable on the PS4. This game crashes constantly on loading screen and while saving. expect a crash a minimum of once an hour and way more frequently sometimes. Becaue it crashes on saves often even saving frequently isn't always an answer. You also have to pay close attention if hit continue after a crash. for some reason it often picks fairly old saves instead of the most recent so if you can find yourself not having credit in the current game for quests and locations and items that you have already done. They must have run out of money or time and released without doing any type of quality control testing for the PS4 version because it is such a ridiculous common problem there is no way they would have missed it.I gave it four stars because a dedicated fan of these types of games will play through the frustration and replay sections when they have to because it is otherwise such a wonderfully crafted game. For a more casual RPG player I can almost guarantee they will rage quit over it because it is VERY frustrating. Shame because otherwise this was a potential game of the year!I really want to like this game. I've got tons of hours into it. It's pretty. The engine is super deep. The writing is great. But the glitches are infuriating.Example: There was an enormous Day1 patch, but you couldn't use the character respec system. This isn't some minor one-off thing -- it's a major game element, which is extremely simple to test.I'd say I was getting by fairly well based on forum posts -- about one crash every 2-3 hours.Another gigantic patch was released in late September. It fixed the respec bug. Huzzah!Buuutttt... now approximately 1/4 of the time I press Square (to do a 5' step) in combat, the game freezes.Annnddd... 1/10 of the time the game auto-saves, the app crashes, and the save corrupts.Alllsssooo... Once every 1-2 hours the app crashes apparently at random. So I turned off auto-save. And I save after every encounter that takes longer than 3 minutes. I maintain at least two running files, and never overwrite the newest one to cover me against corruption. But saving takes almost 30 seconds.I'd say I spend 5 minutes every hour of gameplay saving in hopes of not getting burned. And I still get creamed sometimes. There's a script that flashes during the game boot (oh, you'll be seeing this a lot during all of those relaunches) dedicated to Kickstarter supporters. It says, "...thanks for believing in us...".Well, guess what? I don't any longer. Not at all.Look at the forum history for this game back on PC, then the new stuff for PS4 and XBOX.Bugs, crashes, glitches, corruption.People have come to tolerate that kind of nonsense on passion projects like this for PC, but console systems come with a different expectation of polish. Simply put, this game runs at the stability of an alpha release. If that seems okay with you, it'll be a great strategy combat experience for you.If however, you don't like the frustration of throwing your controller into a pillow every time you lose the last 20-30 minutes of progress, you should definitely game elsewhere. This game plays like a cross between the old school Baldur's Gate PC games and Divinity Original Sin series tactical RPG's, using Pathinder tabletop RPG rules. I think it's a little light on story but the exploration, kingdom management, and tactical combat are all very nice. You can play this game in one of two modes, turn based and real time. I would suggest using turn based for difficult battles and switching to real time to wrap it up.There do seem to be some issues with the randomizer the game uses. I don't think the in game dice rolls are entirely random.I have had a few random crashes here and there so I would suggest saving often. The character options are immense and I love how the different classes play out. Fun stuff!I'd like for there to be more interaction beftween the different party members. If you ever played Baldur's Gate 2, you will forever remember Minsc and Boo. This game doesn't really capture that sort of magic.Overall, especially on turn based mode, this game is an exceptional tactical RPG and I highly recommend it as a fan of both tabletop games, RPG's and tactical RPGs.This is extremely detailed and can be very frustrating when you first start out. I highly recommended looking up starting tips before playing, however, once you get passed the initial learning curve there is hours and hours of fun to be had. With endless exploring and managing a Kingdom this will keep you immersed in a detailed world full of fun for a long time!! Excited for the next installment to come in 2022!本日、日本語版発売しましたがこちらの北米版も日本語化来てます。Love this game. This is finally great role playing Pathfinder in a video game. The only draw back is the initial stability issues copying the file to disk and some strange crashes at the beginning. But those seem to have subsided now and I am really enjoying the game. The graphics and detail of the character customizations are excellent! You can see all of the weapons on the character and even the potions on the belt, blood spatter on their clothes, etc.Delivery was on time. The game itself is very disappointing. I play pathfinder rpg table game every weekend so I went into this really wanting to like the game. Its been a huge letdown. So many pauses to camp frequently to rest/ encumbrance rules. The glit hy combat system i really tried to like this but its just disappointing.great gameLove this purchase
