Just want to throw my 2 cents in. I don't write many reviews but was compelled because I had a really good time playing it.First and foremost, I LOVE the whole Demons/Gods and Mythology genre in general. I love Norse mythology, Chinese mythology, Christian/Judeo mythology, etc., so to play a game about The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the whole Angels and Demons thing (God of War, etc.) is a great joy.And fortunately, THQ did not disappoint. If there was a 4.5 star rating I would give it that, because this game isn't one of the best out there, but it's pretty damn good.PROS:+ AWESOME art direction and style. Joe Mad did a great job designing the characters and overall theme and mood of this game. The coolest character in the game by far is Samael, who looks almost exactly like the devil from that Tom Cruise "Legend (Ultimate Edition)" movie. They NEED to make him as a playable character in the sequel!+ Great storytelling. One of the strongest points of the game is it really draws you in. I love watching the cutscenes to find out what's going to happen next - it's almost like watching a good movie that you can control. That's the magic of good games nowadays. The whole betrayal/vengeance theme might be cliche, but it works. Couple good storytelling with great voice acting (Mark Hamil once again nails it as The Watcher - is there any quirky voice this guy CAN'T do?? Give the man an Oscar!), and you have a very spellbinding presentation.+ LOTS of things to upgrade and discover. Just when I was about to fight the last boss and wane my interest, I go online to read up on the game and find out I can go find the Abyssal Armor, the Legendary Enhancements, and The Harvester Scythe (NOT the original scythe - get it FREE! Press START, go to OPTIONS, choose ENTER CODE, and type in "The Hollow Lord" without the quotes - enjoy!).+ Like most games nowadays, you can finish the game once, then incorporate part of the old game into the new one. So when I return to it again on Apocalyptic difficulty (after I play my Mass Effect 2 and Dante's Inferno of course!), I'll have my Abyssal Armor, as well as my health leaching abilities from the old game - score!CONS:- Controls can be frustrating at times. The game has "gravity" - it doesn't feel light like other platforming games, say like Prince of Persia, and noticeably heavier than God of War III. So when you jump, sometimes you get that weighed down feeling, and sometimes it doesn't respond at all, which has killed me on several occasions - not jumping at the ledge and falling to oblivion.- Camera/point of view can use some more tweaking. Yes, you can control the camera almost 360 degrees in all directions independently, but the viewpoint for certain "scenes" change depending on where you are, so sometimes in the heat of battle, when you step into another "scene," it can throw you off and get you in quite of a bind. One trick you can try to help you is to hold down the Target Lock(L2 trigger), and it'll work most of the times, although sometimes it puts you in too far of a viewpoint to make furious button mashing efficient. All in all this is a very good game that gets you hooked from beginning to end, only to find out there's a sequel in store - score! Whoops, hope that didn't spoil anything for you - enjoy! There has been a lot written about Darksiders in terms of it plagiarism of other games and also it's difficulty settings, control scheme and combat. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and so whilst not a complete review I wanted to share thoughts on those 4 issues.Other games - I have never played God of War (I know) but I guess that there is some similarity in the sword, scythe etc and the combo button mashing with an instant kill option (circle) once you've beaten the enemies up enough, but so what? There is very little originality in games these days as a lot has been tried in some shape or another. If it works, go with it. It also "borrows" from Zelda in that there are dungeons and puzzles but in my experience they are a lot more adult that the Zelda games with more fighting involved a long the way. Personally I think there is a good balance so far and it's the sort of game that pushes you along - you want to see what's next.Difficulty - I am 39 and play games, but not all the time so I normally play on normal. However a review I read said that the game gets easier when you get all your kit and power ups etc so I chose Apolyptic difficulty. For me, this is fine. It's a challenge, but not so I'm chucking the controller around. There have been sections so far where I've failed a few times and had to retry or go back and fine life shards to boost my health, but I've done it and feel more satisfied for doing so. If you want to rush through the game choose normal, for a decent challenge but certainly not impossible, crank it up to Apolyptic.Controls - Darksiders gives you lots of weapons, combos, gear etc that I think makes it interesting and fun. So far, a new piece of kit should be used in combat, it's not just for one specific purpose, which again makes it interesting. Getting to use most of the gear is straight forward but some things are a bit complex. You'll get there but you'll need to practice a bit (e.g. assign the crossblade to R2, press R3 to enter aim mode, hold L2 to tag enemies and R2 to fire....). Overall its' fine but there's more than 1 button to press.Combat - Most combat is button mashing but the game varies how many and how challenging the opponents are. Some enemies require constant dashing in and a few strikes before retreating away or you will suffer (probably more so on Apolyptic) and the mini-bosses / bosses require a bit more thought.Final thoughts - I bought Bayonetta and Darksiders at the same time and so far I found the first hour or so of Bayonetta to be very irritating (story, cutscenes etc) and whilst I will definitely go back to it and will no doubt love it I am most likely to play through Darksiders first. It has a great blend of action, exploration and puzzles that keeps me coming back for more. Overall, highly recommended and I hope that Vigil is successful and is able to make more games like this in future. It's hard to talk about this game without mentioning God of War, or Legend of Zelda. If both of those games had a child together than Darksiders would be that child. So I will try to skip the obvious comparisions and get to what makes this game so much fun. This game is an action adventure style game with RPG elements. You play as War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. However things are not right in the end of days, and now you need to fix what went wrong in order to prevent a war from heaven and hell. After a quick tutorial level, you start the game many years later and missing your horse and all your powers. You will need to fight enemies, level up your abilities solves puzzle filled dungeons, and fight amazing bosses. The story is a little over the top, but the level designs are amazing. Yes they are very Zelda-ish. You need to explore each Dungeon to gain a map, their version of a compass, and a boss key in order to finish the levels. But I actually think that the puzzle element was more fleshed out than even the most recent of Zelda games, making this game more challeging and fun. However it is gory, and should not be considered in the "family friendly" genre that Zelda has made a home for itself in. The God of War comparisions are a little embelished though. Yes there is tones of fighting and sword flinging. Yes it counts your combos for you, and there is a single button press to kill enemies once you have worn them down. I would rather say that if you enjoy the action of God of War, than this game will feel really good to you, but I don't think at any point you will find yourself thinking about Kratos while playing this game. Overall this game is very entertaining and fun. It takes the best parts of some of your favorite games and copies them really well. And really when was the last time you could actually say that a game copied Zelda really well?I bought this game without knowing much about it. My surprise to have a lot of fun for more than 25 hours before finishing this game. The story is not bad, the graphics are not the best on PS3, but the controls are awesome. the game have a little something that make you wish for a sequel when it's finished...Product arrived sooner than expected. In fantastic condition. Game plays well. Has great mix of elements from a hack n' slash (Devil May Cry, God of War) and Legend of Zelda. Great story and a good start to a series. High recommend it.I really liked this game. It took me around 12 hours to beat it. I felt it is a mix between God of War and the Legend of Zelda. I would recommend it if you like those kind of games. The version you get is the PlayStation favorite with the red box.Tienes mecanicas de god of war ,zelda entre otros pero con identidad ,lo unico malo que mencionaria es que amazon tiene publicada la version standard y envia la greatest hits
