Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland is a sequel of the Atelier Arland series and this time the alchemist is Lulua the daughter of famous alchemist Rorona. Lulua wants to be a great alchemist like her mom but is still only a beginner and struggling with the basics of alchemy. One day she finds a book only she has the power of reading which sets her off on a journey to become a great alchemist and to discover the truth about Arland. What I liked:The alchemy is a blend of old and newThe combat is funThere's no time limit on anything it seemsThe graphics are excellentThe landscapes are prettyNew characters and seeing the previous characters return like Rorona, Sterk, Totori, etcVisiting new and old locations was funNice and cute character designsThe story is sweet and does feel like a continuation of the Arland TrilogyWhat I Didn't Like:I knew the chances of there being English voices were close to nil but I was still quite disappointed that wasn't an option. It would have been nice to hear the English voices of the original Arland trilogy cast. Of course the alchemy is fun and unlocking recipes is too but solving alchemyriddles can be hard. Star events don't always occur even when you go to the places that have them and then you have to leave and go back several times or at least that's what happened to me. I was disappointed Rorona didn't appear until later in the story. I thought it would have been nice to see Rorona as a mom and teach Lulua alchemy but that didn't happen at least not at first. And I know Lulua didn't want to mess up Rorona's Atelier but I thought it would have been better to see her take over Rorona's Atelier instead of always using the Wagon Atelier.I liked Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. It was fun to be back in Arland. To visit new and old locations and to see what all the old characters were up to since Atelier Meruru. Lulua was cute, fun like Rorona but a bit sassier. I just wish I could have heard the original Arland English voice cast and that Rorona would have appeared sooner in the story. Those two were the biggest disappointments of the game.I give this 4 stars.Great graphics, really rich storyline, and really strong characters and background stories.*spoilers*The unlock system is sometimes difficult but not too bad as long as you literally go Anywhere, Everywhere, gather everything, fight everything, etc. Although it is typical for the Atelier series; this time proves to be somewhat tricky. Very early on in the game you obtain a special book that only Lulua can read and this book contains hints and or notes about recipes, gathering areas, and storyline specific items. The only issue with this is that some of the hints are just really vague or confusing about where to go or what monster and or item(s) to get. This is your unlock system and the key to advancing the story. The biggest thing I enjoy is that there is no schedule or time limit. You can take as long as you want to do whatever you want.Lulua might be my favorite protagonist in all of Atelier series. So kawaii! Though I was massively disappointed by the fact that Cordelia did not make an appearance.I had returned to the game at some point and even managed to platinum it once I figured out what I was doing. It's a nice entry to the franchise and I recommend fans of said franchise pick this up.It is entertaining, although it IS atelier, so those looking for an rpg with a dark and gritty storyline won't find it here. The only problem I have is the style of microtransactins that Koei Tecmo decided to go with; and that's character passes each individual party member. They are basically individual season passes but geared toward a specific character, which is pathetic and greedy.nice game with the beautiful youth of a girl, with fun game playVery well done jrpg.I enjoyed the series so far but it seems the publisher is influencing the series in a negative way, cutting corners and increasingly just a blatant milking of the series. More content is DLC and they don't even care to give it a proper localization either. lazy translations, more bugs and rushed is what the series have been devolved to. The publisher needs to be contacted by their Japanese HQ, American branches have people who really don't give a damn about your games and/or push their own political agendas in them.À défaut de me répéter... Garder les formules classiques tout en améliorant le visuel, les.mondes ouverts etc....Bought it for my girlfriend for her birthday. She says the story isn’t as good as Atelier Sophie but the gameplay is more fun.She can sit and play it for hours on end which isn’t common for her, so all in all a good installment if you’re a fan I guess.
