Okay, this was an impulse buy. I love PlayStation and I love odd little gadgets (Sony has had a few of them in the past). First, I gave it only 4 stars because any Vita game card I own does NOT work on the PS TV. Even some of the downloaded ones don't work. And even more surprising, of the 10 PC Engine/Turbo Grafx 16 games available on the US PlayStation store you can buy (I own 6 of them), none of them work on the PS TV. I think it odd that only 4 of the 6 work on the Vita (Bonk's Adventure and Alien Crush don't even show up on my downloads list on the Vita). I find it odd that the PS TV will actually let you download games that don't work on it. I'm hoping that Sony comes up with a fix for that so you don't waste your time only to find out the Vita game you wanted to see on a big screen won't work.I briefly tried to do the streaming thing from the PS4 to the PS TV, but couldn't get it to work. Since that's not what I bought it for, I'm not stressing about that. I do like it, don't get me wrong, but it's a bit more limited than I thought it would be. I had read that the Japanese version will play Ys: Memories of Celceta, so I had naturally thought that the US version would as well, but it doesn't. I did in fact look at the PlayStation website to view all compatible games. I thought that it was an oversight. Apparently it was not. Perhaps this was misinformation, maybe the Japanese version has a few differences from the US version. If anyone is planning on buying this, I would suggest checking out the compatible games list on the PlayStation website. I haven't tried all of my downloaded games on it, but I'm happy that some of them do. I was thinking of returning it the first week, but I figured I'd give it another try and I do like it. I just hope that they can bring a few more apps to the PS TV like Amazon Prime. One thing you should know is that when you first plug it in, it turns itself on. So far, every time I turn it on, I have to have the controller plugged into the unit to work, unless you leave it in standby mode. After it's up and running, then you can go wireless. This is the case for both PS3 and PS 4 controllers. I also noticed that you just can't switch controllers (from the PS3 to the PS4) on the fly-shut the one you're using off, and then plug the other one in. It takes a couple of seconds and then it works fine. That's been my experience anyway. It is a fun little toy, and it beats lugging around one of the bigger systems when you want to bring your games out with you.UPDATE:Okay, so this thing is not perfect. It does less than I expected it to, but I still do like it.As a PS4 accessory: when I tried to remote play, I couldn't get it to work. I didn't mention that I tried it after work at like 11 at night with the PSTV wirelessly in the basement and the PS4 upstairs in the room wired to the router. Needless to say, going up and downstairs to check this screen and that got tired fast, so I called it quits for another day. That day was today. This time both machines side by side wired to the router hooked up to the same TV. If that's cheating, fine, I'll try the other set up again. It works perfectly. I didn't notice any lag at all-that may change when I try it again with them on different levels of the house. Also, I made the mistake of trying PS4 Destiny with a PS3 controller. It worked perfectly, but you definitely need the touch pad on the PS4 controller to access the sparrow and to go to orbit.Vita games: if you're thinking of buying this and you already own a Vita, you need to look at the compatibility list on the PS website. I did do that, but I just figured what since it was a few weeks before release, it needed updating. I own 9 Vita games on physical media, most of which I got when it was first released, so they are dependent on the touchscreens as well as the accelerometers built into the Vita. The rest of them are downloads. I have 3 downloads that require the rear camera. I hit PlayStation.com again to look at the compatible list. As I mentioned in my review, I own 6 PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16 games-none of which work on the PSTV, and only 4 of them work on the Vita. Strange since they use the same operating system. However, it's not the end of the world since they're fully functional on my PSP, AND if I have to drag them out of storage, I have the original games on the original systems.I copied the contents of the 32GB card onto the 64GB card, so now the Vita has the 64GB, and the PSTV has the 32GB card. I'm going through what I haven't tried already to see what works. For Plants VS Zombies and Jetpack Joyride, you have to hold down the PS button on the controller to bring up a screen that will allow you to use the touch function in those games-you click the L3 for the front touchscreen, and the R3 for the back. When you do that, a pointer pops up on screen. Use X to click selections. From my downloads, it seems that almost anything (please note the use of the word ALMOST) crossplay is good to go-PS3/PSP/PSV (except Bomberman), PS4/PSV work fine. If the game has a refresh function, use it before you try to start it. Plants VS Zombies wouldn't work until I refreshed it.Controllers: I just tried it again, and it seems you initially have to have the controller of your choice plugged into the PSTV before it will work. I shut off the PS3 controller and pressed PS on the PS4 controller. No dice. That probably has something to do with the fact that PS3 controllers don't work on PS4, so it would make sense that the PSTV would need to (for lack of a better word) reset itself before going from one to the other. As for any other issues such as the lack of apps for it, I say sit and wait. I have no idea why it has a lot less apps than the Vita does, but all I can suggest is to keep checking reviews to see what they do with it in future updates.I actually wish Sony would just make a cable that would output the Vita onto a TV the way PSP did. It would be cheaper, and would probably give purpose to that seemingly useless port on the top of the system. Not to mention battery life would increase due to the screen and speakers not using up power.Hope this helps.
