I'm glad this game got hammered by reviewers because I just picked this game up for less than $10 with S&H! I rented this game previously and found it enjoyable, and since it is on the cheap now I decided to pick it up. For that price, this game offers a lot of fun. Sure, the story is muddled and the dialogue mummbly, but there is a lot to like in this game too. The hack feature is really the game in a nutshell. It reminds me a bit of Psi Ops (PS2) which I think the developers were trying to go for that kind of feel. Except in Psi Ops you had several psychological weapons at your disposal whereas in Mindjack it is just the mind hack feature. You can also use mind control to make enemy forces fight on your side, but this is simply done with a single button mash and then the enemy is now fighting on your side, but you have no actual control over them. It would have been cool if they made that to where you could order them to attack a specific enemy or something. But I suppose that might get a tad too complicated and it is still pretty cool as is. To me that's the funnest aspect of the game is mind controlling the enemey soldiers and let them do the fighting for you! LOL.Graphics are pretty solid and the mechanics of the game are pretty good, though shooting/aiming takes some time to get used to and sometimes the mind hack feature is a bit funky. For example, if you hit L-1 it is supposed to take you to the closest available entity that you can hack into. The problem is that sometimes that body you hack into is not in a position where they can actually fight and help you - for example, the hacked body is up on the 2nd floor, but you need to be down on the 1st floor fighting. So the very thing that makes the game unique - the mind hack feature - is also the very thing frustrating you at times! And some in-game tunes would be nice. The track at the start-up screen is cool, but that's about all you get! But like I said for this price, I think this game is a steal - definitely $10 worth of fun!I think many of the negative reviews make invalid points. Some reviewers said other players can hack into your game, but this is a feature you can simply turn off in campaign mode. Another reviewer wrote that your character moves at a snail's pace, but all you need to do is press the L3 forward and he will walk faster. Hold L3 forward and press down on the X-button and he will sprint. Also, you can equip "arts" and "rules" at the start-up screen (use the "plug-in" feature) and you will gain advantages which are helpful later in gameplay. You earn these "arts" and "rules" as you gain XP in the game. So it sounds like some of the negative reviews were your typical gamer who tries to fly through the game as fast as they can and doesn't take the time to understand how the game features work. I'm not saying its a perfect game mind you, it has its drawbacks, but is not as bad as others have said and some of the criticisms invalid. I'm perhaps being a little generous with the 4 stars and 8 stars out of 10, but for this price and for no expectations going into this game, I think it's fair.FINAL GRADE: BMindJack got a lot of grief when it came out, and it hasn't gotten much better. However, seeing it for under $5 one day, I decided to pick up a copy and see just how bad it really is.MindJack tells the story of a man who's name I can't remember (and that I don't care enough to look up) as he tries to discover what he can, as within the first few minutes of the game he's treated as something of a traitor. The voice work is pretty horrible at times, so expect to groan. The mind hacking - taking over the bodies of friendlies or neutrals - is similar to The 3rd Birthday, with the exception of a pretty poor AI (although left alone for long enough they do a somewhat passable job most of the time) and you won't hear Aya's exclamations of ... whatever. This hijacking requires line of sight, however there also seems to be some percentage of body seen, in order for it to consistently work. The game is mostly a third-person shooter, with a rather faulty hand-to-hand combat system (although taking someone as a shield seems to work fairly well). All that said, it's about an eight hour game. However, I've put a little over 20 hours of time into the game. And it's for the same reason I'm going to give the game 4 stars. The game allows you to play through by yourself, or like Demon's Souls (I apologize if anyone cringes my mention of that in regards to this game), blue or red hackers can jump in. Blue hackers can use any friendlies (and since you consistently have a partner through the game, at least one could play through with you), while red hackers can use any enemies. Red hackers can certainly have an easier time, since there are more enemies than friendlies at the start, but they're unable to jump into most bosses. You can shut this off if you want, but the real enjoyment of this game comes through in the multiplayer.Unfortunately there's not too many people playing the game (I'd say maybe a dozen at the time of this review), yet on the other hand they tend to be people that also just picked up the game, making it a fairly 'tight' group of people. In fact, thanks to MindJack I found someone who I'll be keeping an eye on, since we have very similar gaming tastes.Had the online component not been active I would have given this game 3 stars. However, because of the great community, and the fun I had because of it, I'm giving MindJack 4 of 5 stars. It's certainly not one of their better games, but at $10 or less, it's worth the price, in my opinion.I purchased this item for my son who is 18+ and he loves this for his ps3 and has not had any problems or issues with it. The price was reasonable as well for this particular item. Plus, I usually wait until the price is right on this kind of stuff before I purchase it!!Fun game! You can see through other people's eyes!Save your self time and your money, buy a different game this title is full of bugs, it's slow and confusing the game-play + the story is total crap it's likeit was thrown together in a box and they shock it in tell it resembled something that looks like a game and said "voila" lets sell it.Save your self... Don't waste your brain cells. There many other titles far better than this!t h a n k s a l l g o o d i n p e r f e c t c o n d i t i o nthe idea of the game is pretty cool but the game itself is a lil on the odd side...the graphics are pretty cool but the plot is rather cheesy if not downright retarded at timesIt was wack as hell
