I've read a lot of negative reviews about this game, which made me hesitant to purchase it even though I love tactical games, but it's really not as bad as a lot of reviewers make it out to be.In terms of gameplay, this game is a turn based strategy game, but unlike other turned based strategy games, like Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem, Valkyria Chronicles and Tactics Ogre, it doesn't allow you for much experimentation during battle and very set in stone where to go and what you should be doing but at the same time challenging. For example, when the objective tells you to run, you run, otherwise your characters are likely to get mobbed and die by swarms of enemies linking [a part of the battle system that you MUST take advantage of that enemies likewise pretty much take advantage of to the ground, otherwise you won't progress very far into the game.Linking is the key gameplay mechanic you MUST learn. Linking is where whoever's turn it is will allow any characters adjacent to them to make a move [you'll see the list of characters on the left with their symbol], but more often than not you should wait if they haven't gone yet and place them in reserve unless it's crucial for them to move. You have to carefully think about your moves because the AI in this game is punishing and hardly makes mistakes and if one character dies it's game over. Once you get the linking system down, it makes the game a little more easier. Very much suggest/a must going through the tutorial if you decide to pick this game up.Graphically, this version doesn't really take advantage of the capabilities of the PS4. The graphics are very much early PS3 graphics like Enchanted Arms or even the later PS2 games like Final Fantasy XII...so if you're looking for PS4-current generation eye candy, definitely not the game for you. The lines showing you the effects/attacks are initially distracting and confusing but after awhile you get used to them along with understanding what they mean. The music itself is pretty generic, but for the most part they do their job in setting the mood of a stage and voice acting I thought were fine and suited each character. The story is nothing special along with characters being pretty cliché anime trope characters. Multi player card game is actually pretty fun for those that like a challenge, however, best if you have a friend who has a mic play it with you if you intend to do co-op [no offline option]... otherwise it's difficult since it really pushes teamwork and making sure you both have a deck that will complement each other. The other multiplayer is the card battle which relies on strategy and whoever has the better cards [better to grind for with a friend via co-op to get more].Overall I would only suggest picking this up if you're a tactical rpg fan and/or looking for a challenge, otherwise this game is definitely not for the casual player or those with very little patience.
