I could see if someone put out sixty dollars for this game and was dissapointed, because Shellshock 2 doesn't jump out at you...but it's a vietnam war era based game so it's going to be more streamlined. But if anything I think the word 'logic' sticks to this game....*The Zombies:In this game all you fight are vietnamese soldiers and the infected(zombies),soldiers can be easy to kill but they have decent AI...the zombies aren't.In short they still follow the old rule from horror films they're practically sponges for bullets except for a head shot.In this game there are slow moving/traditional zombies and then there's the updated ones that come tearing through the jungle or running straight at you like a cheetah, hard to kill but showcases they might as well be a wild animal.*Bosses:There aren't any real bosses in this game but there are a few levels where your dead-ended with a mid boss. This mid boss weilds a large machete and doesn't walk fast but will lunge at you or slash you while avoiding him if too close and can kill you quickly. Here's the kicker though your'e normally in a pretty confined area with no where to run and head shots won't bring him down...he takes alot of gunfire to eliminate,no weak spots.Yeah the mid bosses lack imagination but if you think about in a non fantasy/real world outlook-in a game where soldiers and diseased humans are your enemy...what would your thrilling video game boss be?*Weapons:Revolvers, pistols, shotguns, rifles, machine guns, heavy machine guns, rocket launchers, machetes, grenades, flares to see in dark tunnels...real world vietnam era weaponry. You are somewhat limited on what you can carry but ammo and guns aren't hard to acquire,in most cases you can pick up your enemy's weapon.Sound effects wise the guns sound like hollywood cinema firearms in war movies, nothing special but they have character.*Scare Factor:I wouldn't call the game scary at all, there's some jump out moments or close calls from sudden zombie encounters.Considering your surroundings in dark areas you can't help but be cautious going around corners or observing behind you, zombies can turn up when you least expect them.*Enviroments:Temples,Villages,Old Mansions,VC Tunnels,Barracks and the Jungle...real world enviroments.I don't see anything lacking about the level design or lack of detail, you can't really candy coat a war enviroment...pretty good for a thirty dollar game.Final Thoughts:It's a four star first person shooter and I like it's appeal as 'more down to earth',lends realism to the game.It is a little short but there are better/more popular PS3 games I've played that are shorter so it's somewhat redundant. But look at Wolfenstein 3D-it's very dry cut as an early shooter game and pretty outdated, but it doesn't stop people from enjoying it.As far as recommending Shellshock 2:Blood Trails it is worth putting in your first person shooter collection-it's not for game snobs but you never know when you'll want to come back to it...games aren't made to fulfill emotional needs. Was a huge fan of the first Shell Shock Vietnam video game for the PS2 game sytem. Bought this hoping it would be another great Vietnam war game. Unfortunatly more of a fictional zombie war game. Basic story is a virus caleed white night can turn people into zombies. An accidental crash of a plane hauling white night sends the virus loose. The main charactor you play is sent in for a solution to the virus and to find a cure from the lead scientist. Not a terrible game. Just not what I exspected. With so many great shooters out there, you probably don't want to waste your time and money on it unless you don't have much else to play and/or can't pass up bargain-priced games. I have a problem with the latter and I was curious. It looks and plays more like a PS2 game and the aiming is pretty atrocious. It can be hard to tell where bullets are coming from sometimes so you get shot a lot but it takes a lot of hits to die so it's just more annoying than anything. I haven't beat it yet and I'm not sure if I'm going to put in the extra time to do so. Overall, it's not the worst game I've ever played (it's at least better than Duke Nukem: Forever) but that doesn't say much.My son seemed to really like this game and was very excited when it came so quickly. It only took 3-4 days. We are very pleased with this purchase.the game cheats the zombies do not die when shot and constantley respawn the game is not winable the last level more cheating zombies respawning non stop no point in playing eidos programs their games to cheat enemys cheat and never reload their guns the shoot all the timeJust as advertisedgreat no scratches ant0d arrived before estamationactuallyI saw some reviews of this game and to be honest yes, it does not deserve a 5 star but to my opinion, it lies between 3.5 to 4.The game is pretty basic, find zombie and shoot him. The images are pretty gruesome and there are parts of the game that will actually make surprise you and make you jump. Yes, this game is not of high quality, my best guess would be a mix between a good PS1 Medal of Honor and the 'horror' of Resident Evil 5. I am in NO WAY comparing the game to either of those, but the ideas are there. The controller takes a little to get used to and I had to change the motion sensibility on my PS3 to button combination, it just seemed as though the motion sensors were not picking up the controller movement, minor adjustment. Now, onto the gameplay. Like I said, a basic first person shooter, what makes this game fairly good is the gore, you can shoot the zombies and you will see their body parts explode, mind you, the ammo is scarce and you have to heavily rely on melee attacks for at least a good 1/4 of the game, to the advantage of the game, the melee works fine, it slows down your enemy and takes life away, not much, but just enough. I played it on the hardest level to make it challenging and I got a good kick out of it. The game is short but keeps you glued to your chair if you make it hard enough, and for a price under $20 (shipping included) I would say it is a good investment if you wish to shoot for some hours.
